A record meant to outlast careers must outlast its keeper. This page states what happens to your ledger if Double Turnstile changes hands, winds down, or ceases to operate.
Your record is designed to survive us. You can export your ledger at any time, in full, from the day you begin. Each attestation carries the evidence required for independent verification, including timestamps from two independent authorities. The verification procedure is published so an exported attestation can be verified without access to Double Turnstile’s systems or permission from Double Turnstile.
Custody has a succession plan. The credentials and instructions required for continuity of the service are held in escrow with counsel under standing instructions for an orderly transfer or wind-down. If Double Turnstile winds down in an orderly manner, every subscriber will be given an opportunity to export their ledger before the service ends.
The company and the record are separate things. Double Turnstile may not exist for the length of your career. Your record should not require it to. The service is therefore designed so that what you have already recorded can leave with you, and the evidence necessary to verify it does not have to remain with us.
A witness whose testimony depends on the witness surviving is not the kind of witness you need.
